Itinerary

Day 1, Arrival in Switzerland – Bern
Arrival in Switzerland and transfer by rail to Bern.

Rest of the day at leisure.

Not many cities have managed to retain their historic features quite as successfully as Bern, the capital of Switzerland. The old town of Bern has been entered in the list of UNESCO Cultural World Heritage Sites and thanks to its 6 kilometres of arcades - the locals refer to them as 'Lauben' - preserved a very traditional atmosphere and one of the longest weather-sheltered shopping promenades in Europe. The medieval air of this city with its many fountains, sandstone facades, narrow streets and historic towers is unique. The elevated Rose Garden above the Bear Pits and the platform of the cathedral tower offer the best views of the old town, which is almost encircled by the River Aare. A city with a particular lifestyle - the Bernese way of life, calm, relaxed and a bit slower than the rest of the world.

Overnight at hotel in Bern.

Day 2, Bern
Breakfast at hotel.

Explore the city on foot with a local guide. You’ll marvel at the gothic cathedral (Münster) with its stunning portal and its depiction of the Last Judgment. The Clock Tower (Zytglogge), the historic city gate dating to the 13th century, awaits you and offers a fascinating performance on the hour.

In the afternoon, visit Albert Einstein's Museum and take a glimpse into the daily life of this brilliant physicist. Hundreds of original objects and replicas, films and numerous animations tell the story of a genius – both his ground-breaking discoveries and the private life behind the public figure. A virtual journey through the cosmos explains Einstein’s revolutionary theories clearly, and makes them easy to understand. The Einstein museums is located inside the Bern Historical Museum.

Overnight at hotel in Bern.

Day 3, Bern – (Thun) - Interlaken
Breakfast at your hotel.

Drop off your luggage at the SBB-counter this morning.

In the afternoon, arrival in Interlaken. Short walk from landing quay to the station railway station Interlaken-West where you can pick-up your luggage (after 6pm).

Overnight at hotel in Interlaken.

Day 4, Excursion to the Jungfraujoch
Breakfast at hotel.

Full day excursion to the Jungfraujoch.

The journey to the Jungfraujoch at 3,454 meters - Europe’s highest altitude railway station - is a highlight of every visit to Switzerland.

The Jungfrau Railways is an engineering masterpiece. The last section has been built inside the mountain itself, and the view through the panorama windows at the "Eigerwand" and "Eismeer" stations in the middle of the North Wall are a thrilling experience. The platform of the observatory is located right above the Aletsch Glacier. The "Alpine Sensation", a subway inside the rock, marks the centenary of the Jungfrau Railway and connects the Ice Paradise with the Sphinx Hall.

In the late afternoon, return to Interlaken via Kleine Scheidegg and Grindelwald.

Overnight at your hotel in Interlaken.

Day 5, Interlaken - Ballenberg Museum - Lucerne
Breakfast at your hotel.

Drop off your luggage at the railway station and continue by train and bus to ¨Brienz.

The Ballenberg Open Air Museum showcases an astounding collection of ancient Swiss buildings, farmyard animals, gardens and traditions of the various regions. Demonstrations of local crafts and special events create a vivid impression of rural life in days gone by in this vast open air museum. With local craftsmen and experts presenting their skills, Ballenberg is a fully immersive experience - peek over shoulders, ask questions and try things out! Try woodworking or forging for yourself and discover traditional Switzerland.

In the late afternoon, continue by train on the Zentralbahn from Brienz over the Brünig Pass to Lucerne.

Overnight at your hotel in Lucerne.

Day 6, Lucerne – Excursion to Stanserhorn
Breakfast at your hotel.

Full day excursion to the Stanserhorn. In the morning, you board a paddle steamer from the main pier opposite the railway station and cruise to Hergiswil. A short walk to the railway station where you connect to a train towards Stans. From the station in Stans, it takes about 5-10 minutes right across the old town to the valley station of the Stanserhorn Bahn.

For the first section, you take a vintage railway dating from 1830 and then - an extreme contrast - the world’s first open top cable car “CabriO”. The open upper deck and large glass front are truly breathtaking and spectacular. Up on the summit, you can do the circular hiking trail (approx. 30 min.). The Stanserhorn Rangers are volunteers working on the mountain and will explain everything about the mountain and they know a lot of stories to tell. In the afternoon, return to Lucerne with a direct train from Stans (approx. 20 min).

Evening: With outstandingly good food and the unique Stadtkeller atmosphere, you can enjoy carefree hours in the midst of original Swiss folklore. Traditional Swiss customs and usages, with alphorns, cowbells, national costumes, flag throwing and yodelling will make your visit to the Stadtkeller an unforgettable experience. The unique combination of good food, music and fun. Restaurant is air-conditioned.

Overnight at your hotel in Lucerne.

Day 7, Lucerne – Transport Museum - Departures
Breakfast at your hotel.

A visit to Switzerland’s most popular museum is like taking a look into Switzerland's soul and spirit. The Swiss are very proud of their history of mobility and communication, documented in exhibitions and theme parks, with simulations, interactive stations and films. The Swiss Museum of Transportation is Europe's most comprehensive museum of mobility. More than 3,000 objects, spread over an exhibition area of 20,000 square meters, showcase the development of traffic on roads, by rail, on water, in the air and in space. In the locomotive simulator, one can experience what it feels like to drive a train oneself.

The Swiss Chocolate Adventure is a new theme world that allows the visitor to learn interesting facts about the discovery, origin, production and transport of chocolate. Seeing, hearing, smelling and tasting: this multimedia voyage of discovery appeals to different senses. It illustrates the entire value creation and transport chains from the cultivation of the cocoa bean and the transport to Switzerland up to the manufacture and sale of the finished chocolate product.

Late afternoon departure by rail transfer to the airport or continuation of your journey.
