Summary

To discover Geneva means to trace the evolution of watches, uncover where the Internet was born or to bask in the beautiful confluence of the Rhone and Arve Rivers. Geneva maybe called a pocket size metropolis but surely much is in store for you between pristine Alpine peaks and the hilly terrain of the Jura. Home to the European seat of the United Nations as well as the international headquarters of the Red Cross, Geneva became known as the "capital of peace" which is a fitting title since global visitors quickly feel at home in its friendly ambience and cheerful atmosphere.

The gentle hills, picturesque woods, vibrant lakeside promenades and lively side streets are conducive enough for a leisure walk. The astonishing Lake Geneva is tranquil enough for a scenic cruise taking you to the "Jet d'eau", one of the city's most famous landmarks. You can’t resist the play of colours in its first English-style park, the site of the famous Flower Clock honoring the region's high-end tradition of watchmaking. An exciting mini-train Tramway Tour takes you to its magnificent corners while a guided stroll through the fascinating Old Town gets you deep into the historical core of the famous “city of peace”.

Arrive at Geneva airport. Claim your free public transport ticket from the ticket machine in the luggage hall for your onward rail transfer to Geneva city centre and your hotel.

Embedded between nearby Alpine peaks and the hilly terrain of the Jura, the French-speaking city of Geneva lies in the bay where the Rhône leaves Lake Geneva. With its humanitarian tradition and cosmopolitan flair, Geneva is a centre for culture and history, with international artists regularly performing in the Grand Théâtre and Geneva Opera House, and an extremely diverse range of museums open to guests. Highlights include the Jet d’eau, the 140-metre-high ‘landmark’ water jet of Geneva, and the lake cruises – from the cruise boats, visitors can marvel at the unique scenery of castles and magnificent residences set against wonderful landscape and mountain panoramas.
