In the afternoon, stroll visit to the Olympic Museum. In total, more than 3.5 million visitors of all ages and all walks of life have come to this museum, set in stunning grounds on the banks of Lake Geneva, to experience the magic of the Olympic Games and the Olympic Movement. Just recently re-opened after refurbishment, the permanent exhibitions have been entirely redeveloped for a new and improved visitor experience. They now cover three floors and incorporate the museum grounds. Even if you are not a sports fanatic, the modern style and approach of the museum provides a great experience.

Overnight at your hotel in Lausanne.

(If arriving late in Lausanne, the museum's visit will be scheduled in the morning of day 3.)

Day 2, Lausanne – Excursion Château de Chillon and Wine Tasting
Breakfast at hotel.

You start from the landing quay in Lausanne-Ouchy with a leisurely boat cruise to Montreux and the Château de Chillon. The stops en route allow you to catch a glimpse of the picturesque villages along Lake Geneva. The Château de Chillon is located on a rock on the banks of the lake and takes you back to the Middle Ages.

The underground prison tells the legends of the famous prisoners and the great halls and courtyards show the daily life of the people.

Transfer by local bus from the castle to Montreux station and a short train ride to Rivaz. The Vinorama in the heart of the terraced vineyards of the Lavaux is the perfect place to discover the wines and traditions of the region. The Chasselas, Switzerland’s typical grape variety and the diversity of its local production, gives the wines sometimes fruity, mineral or even honey type flavours; and the ‘Plant Robert’, an ancient Lemanic grape variety, adds black cherry, spices and well enrobed tannins.

The "Discovery Package" offers tasting of 2 Chasselas varieties and 1 Plant Robert red wine together with some bread, water and puff pastry. A short video will introduce you to the winegrower's work throughout the year.

In the late afternoon, return to Lausanne by train.

Overnight at your hotel in Lausanne.

Day 3, Lausanne – Montreux – Zweisimmen – (Spiez) - Zermatt
Breakfast at the hotel.

The Golden Pass line is one of the most picturesque in Switzerland. Split into three distinct sections, the ever changing scenery truly reflects Switzerland’s diversity. From Montreux, the train climbs up through the terraced vineyards of the Lavaux with beautiful views of the lake, and then continues along the mountain chain of the Alps towards the Bernese Oberland. This is postcard Switzerland with picturesque railway stations along the route, traditional villages, green Alpine pastures and an impressive mountain panorama. Your seats are reserved in the elegant Belle Èpoque carriages and a light lunch (food platter) will be served. In Zweisimmen, all passengers need to change to a different gauge train for the onward journey to Spiez where you board a connecting train via Brig to Zermatt.

Late afternoon arrival in Zermatt at the foot of the Matterhorn.

Short walk to your hotel.

Overnight at your hotel in Zermatt.

Day 4, Zermatt – Day at leisure
Breakfast at the hotel.

Time today to explore historic Zermatt, the renowned car-free village at the foot of the most photographed mountain in the world. Dominated by the unmistakable peak of the Matterhorn standing alone at the head of the valley, Zermatt is encircled by a ring of several four-thousand metre peaks.

The Gourmet Journey to the Gornergrat today is a special experience. To start, Apéro and Valais appetiser is recommended before 11:00 am to get the most out of the day. The entire journey can be made in comfort aboard the Gornergrat Railway. However, you also have the opportunity explore the Alpine surroundings and walk on the hiking trails along the railway tracks between the stations.

The Gornergrat Railway first takes you from Zermatt to the 3100 Kulmhotel Gornergrat, where an Apéro served with a selection of Valais appetisers awaits you. From the Kulm, the train or a walk gets you down to the station Riffelberg and at the Hotel Riffelhaus, where you will be served a delicious three-course gourmet menu. Continue by train or on foot to the next station Riffelalp then to the traditional restaurant "Alphitta", where you may enjoy dessert and coffee. The excursion ends with a train ride back down to Zermatt.

Rest of the day at leisure.

Today, you leave Zermatt. In the morning, depart by train to Brig from where a connecting train takes you across a stretch of Italy towards the Ticino. In Domodossola, you board the famous Centovalli Express for a beautiful 2-hour journey through the Centovalli to Locarno. The landscape is diverse – ranging from dreamy villages, chestnut forests and vineyards to wild canyons and crashing waterfalls – a strong contrast to the harsh Alpine landscape around Zermatt.
